| 15.05.12 It's not uncommon for me to get a severe ear'ole bashing from indignant bookshop owners, who feel that customers have no right to leave anything other than flattering comments on our site. By contrast, John Westwood of The Petersfield Bookshop could not be more gracious:"I have read the comments from our customers and take onboard what they have written and have to agree myself with some of the comments. We will endeavour to rectify the matters that have come to light because customer service is of the upmost importance." Add a comment So when Mr Westwood has taken the appropriate action would he please post it here so that we can revisit his shop without the fear of being rebuffed by his staff. - Chris Harte 17.05.12. 14.05.12 I've recently added The Bookspace in Helston, Cornwall, who sell vintage paperbacks, pop-ups and pulp. We consider a
'shop' to be any business with a significant stock of secondhand
books, that is open regularly, without prior appointment and at
advertised times. This includes permanent units in antique markets
and weekly market stalls. Entries in the Bookshop Guide are free,
so why not take the opportunity to
add your shop now.
Perhaps
the most (in)famous bookshop guide was produced by Drif
and old copies continue to delight customers and enrage many in
the book trade. Drif reviewed the owners as much as their shops
or stock and revelled in their eccentricities.
In the spirit
of Driff we invite you to review
the nation's bookshops and tell us which you think are the good,
the bad and the ugly.
