It's not very big (as yet, anyway, though there would be room to fit in a lot more shelving than exists at present) and the contents, to be frank, weren't all that marvellous (superior charity shop, I would say) when I went in a few weeks ago - Henry Middleton 19.08.10. The stock has improved slightly. There is a sign on the counter which reads "We don't offer trade discount or haggle - so just don't ask" and another on the wall saying "Be nice or leave". Enter at your peril! - Henry Middleton 31.10.11. Mr Middleton - We are a small family bookshop working with an oddly-shaped space. We don't pack it with shelves because wheelchairs and pushchairs need space to manoeuvre. Our stock is turning over constantly so perhaps you'll find something next time? To be clear, 'Be Nice or Leave' is a novelty sign merely intended to make people smile. Haggling can become quite intimidating for young staff but that sign has now been removed. Please feel free to chat to us on your next visit if you have any concerns! - Ellie Potten, Co-owner 02.01.12. Absolutely wonderful little shop, has everything bookish that I could possibly ask for and if there wasn't a book I could find, they were happy to help. Highly recommended! - Emma Brown 02.01.12. I've visited this lovely little bookshop on two occasions now and have come away with a bag full of books both times! Book End is a quaint and cosy second hand book-shop with friendly and well informed staff who I always like to stick around and have a chat with after making my purchase! I love visiting this shop when I'm in the area, it really is the perfect place for tourists and locals to pick up books at reasonable prices ( and maybe even some bookish goodies as well mugs, wrapping paper and bookmarks if you'r anything like me!) I love my trips to this shop and would whole heartedly recommend popping in if your around the area! - Jessica Laing 02.01.12. I call in this bookshop every time I visit Bakewell. Friendly staff happy to keep a lookout and reserve books for next visit. Chair always available to take 5 mins to contemplate purchases. - Andrea 04.01.12. The best thing about Book End is the wonderful, cozy atmosphere. It's a family-run shop which means there's great, personal service and a huge variety of stock that differs from all the high street stores. I could easily spend all day browsing in here. - Hanna Whitehead 05.01.12.
