We carry a broad range of titles and offer new books at half price, specialising mainly in the arts and humanities. We stock many American editions, particularly in our history section. We are situated up the steps from Northgate Street in a Grade 2 listed building on Chester's city walls, overlooking the canal with views to the Welsh hills. NOT a secondhand bookshop: it is only remainders etc, so don't expect anything else. - Robert Brown 02.04.09. This may not be a secondhand bookshop, and indeed, this is stated in the general description, but nevertheless, it has many interesting titles and should not be dismissed as 'only remainders' etc. The stock has obviously been selected with care - not the equivalent to The Works et al. - j2.owch 04.12.09. True, not secondhand, but good collection of books not usually found in 'new' independent bookshops, and prices reasonable. A must if you're in Chester. - Archy 20.10.11.
Cavern Books Dagfields Craft Centre Walgherton Road NANTWICH Cheshire CW5 7LG map tel: 01270 841594 Open: 7 days 11.00 -5.00. General secondhand books, and particularly railways, military and crime, postcards and ephemera. Also LPs & CDs. Brilliant, a really great variety of stock, something for everyone, and very reasonable prices. All books were neatly displayed, not one tatty spine or crumpled cover. Owner and the woman working in the shop were friendly, and most welcoming. Not an easy place to get to, but well worth the effort. - The Wanderer 14.10.09. Excellent books and service. Amazing stock. Thanks for the First Edition Bond. We will be back. - Wirralshrew 27.07.11. Well worth a visit, lots of stock in different subjects. - Paul 05.11.11. Still there and still great, with fair prices and condition of books ranging from good to "oh wow, I am having that". - The Wanderer 09.06.12. Definitely worth finding this place. Some quality books in here. And a very nice place as well with all the other shops. - Gareth 12.07.12. The best second hand bookshop in the area. Reasonable prices, organised stock and an owner who knows his stuff. Always worth a visit. - Rosie Gamgee 10.11.12. Probably the best selection of secondhand railway books in the country. Stocks always seem to be moving and so worth regular visits. - Rik 16.02.13.

Cheshire Books occupies a 3,500 sq ft., ground floor building at Lady Heyes, a great antiques and craft centre with over 60 interesting units complimenting Cheshire Books. We welcome book lovers - come and browse and relax in comfortable chairs. Cheshire Books is located in the 'Jacobean' building to the left of the main car park. We have wheelchair access. Very low key stock. Might be OK for readers, but nothing for the trade. - Robert Brown 02.04.09. I love this place with its vast array of stock and individual 'rooms'. I have visited several times and spent many a happy hour, in comfort, browsing the music section alone. Staff helpful, informative and friendly. - j2.owch 04.12.09. Varied reaction: huge warehouse-type place, enormous selection but very variable quality and a lot of little interest to the collector. However, a few words will get you into the internet book rooms which contain very interesting collections - in my case railway books. Worth a vist, teas available in the centre. - Norman Davies 30.07.11. As I drove away I thought that if I put the word 'sensational' in my report I would get criticised by the cognoscenti. So what I will say is that there are thousands of books, most of which are categorised, and if you want a day out under one roof then this is the place to go. If you need a break, lunch and teas are next door. - Chris Harte 11.12.11.
